Community Swimming Pools
Georgetown Parks and Recreation maintains one indoor pool and five outdoor pools for community use. The indoor pool is located in the Recreation Center on North Austin Avenue, which also has an outdoor play pool. Other outdoor pools are the Village Pool, Williams Drive Pool, River Ridge Pool and Tennis Center Pool.
Georgetown residents and visitors can enjoy access to three splash pads: one each in San Jose Park, Rabbit Hill Park and Downtown beside the Georgetown Art Center. The splash pads are free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. through September 30.
The 1200-acre lake and surrounding natural area provide plenty of space for swimming, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, horseback riding, biking, picnicking and more. Pavilions can be rented for parties and other large gatherings. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Georgetown’s famous natural gorge is a popular place for swimming, wading and picnics. Located north of downtown at W. Second and Rock Streets, the park offers restrooms, picnic areas and beautiful scenery in addition the chance to cool off in the water.
Inner Space Cavern
Escape the sun by heading underground to this natural cave first discovered in 1963. The cave includes 7,000 square feet of open area ranging from narrow tunnels to vast open spaces. Various tours are available to suit visitor abilities and age, but if caves aren’t your thing, the site also has a playground, fossil displays, gift shop and mining area.
Enjoy live theatrical productions in this former Art Deco movie theater. Upcoming shows include the musicals “Mary Poppins” and “Million Dollar Quartet.” Snacks are available at the concession stand. Wine and beer are sold in the lobby on Friday and Saturday nights.
Georgetown Art Center
All ages are welcome at this multidisciplinary art center located in the historic Fire House One. Tour current exhibits, purchase works of art for your home or take part in classes and workshops.
