Mon, 11 Dec 2017 by Steve Klein

During the holiday season, some people can’t wait to see the spectacular light displays on many Georgetown, TX homes, while others look forward to attending seasonal performances or taking their kids to see Santa. Whatever your preference, here are just a few highlights of the many options available:

Light displays

Georgetown Town Square–It isn’t called “The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas” for nothing! Throughout the month of December and lasting through New Year’s Day, thousands of lights decorate the square’s buildings and cover the trees from trunk to tip. Holiday window displays invite leisurely browsing in a festive atmosphere.

Spindler Family Light Show–One of many private homes that outdo the others with choreographed lights and music. Drive by the home on Candle Ridge Trail and tune your car radio to 88.5 FM to listen to the holiday music that accompanies the show. The show is all new this year and lasts until January 3.

Harlien Family Christmas–This light show in Georgetown’s Berry Creek subdivision accepts donations to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The show runs nightly through December. Santa will visit on the evenings of December 9, 15 and 20, when visitors can enjoy cookies and cocoa, participate in a sing-along and take photos with Santa.

Visits with Santa

Breakfast with Santa–On December 16, Georgetown firefighters and Rotarians will prepare a hearty breakfast of sausage, pancakes, coffee and juice at the Georgetown Community Center. The ticket price includes a photo with the jolly old elf himself.

Swim with Santa–During this event on December 15 at the Georgetown Rec Center indoor pool, families can swim with Santa, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and receive a candy cane treat.

A Christmas Carol–The Palace Theatre will present this holiday classic through December 30. Relive the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and his visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

A Jolly Holiday–The talented students of East View High School will present an evening of old and new holiday music December 8, 9 & 10. The show features the EVHS audition-only choirs in solos, duets and production numbers.

Residents of the Georgetown area can enjoy these events and many more each holiday season. New home communities in the area include Morningstar, Sage Creek and The Preserve at Lake Georgetown, an exclusive development of estate homes.
