Hot Home Decor Colors for 2019

Wed, 02 Jan 2019 by Steve Klein

What colors will we see in the hottest homes in Victoria TX this year? If paint manufacturers have their way, we can expect an emphasis on grays, blues and terracotta in the coming months. Here are the year’s hottest colors from 8 leading sources:

  • Gray will continue to be popular as a neutral wall color. Benjamin Moore has chosen Metropolitan, a soft gray shade, as its 2019 Color of the Year. Calming but also sophisticated, this versatile neutral blends well with other hot decorating trends such as black cabinetry and natural materials.
  • Behr has picked Blueprint as its leading color for 2019. As the name suggests, the shade is a middle scale blue. It’s darker than robin’s egg but lighter than royal blue. Blue is the most popular interior color in USA, so this is sure to be a hit for those who want to go beyond neutrals on their walls.
  • Clark + Kensington chose Stainless Steel, a light blue similar to periwinkle. Try it on bedroom walls or as an accent color in the family room.
  • HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams chose Reflecting Pool, another blue. Softer and warmer than the year’s other blues, this color is intended to promote a feeling of balance without being too serious.
  • PPG Diamond’s color of the year is Night Watch. As a deep hunter green, it plays into the current trend toward a connection to nature.
  • Every year the design community waits to see what color Pantone will choose as its Color of the Year. This year it’s Living Coral, a warm reddish orange. Pantone says the color represents optimism and a desire for connections with nature and other people.
  • Sherwin-Williams evokes the American Southwest with Cavern Clay, a terracotta shade that’s more brown than orange. The color is a perfect backdrop for the natural materials and handcrafted décor pieces that are popular this year.
  • Valspar also went with a warm color when it chose Orange Slice. This shade is in the same color family as Cavern Clay, but it’s lighter and more orange. Use it where you want a warm sunny mood.
