You’ve just bought your dream home in a community of new homes in Victoria TX and you’re ready to celebrate! It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a day out on the town to mark the occasion.
Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Liberty Coffee Haus to fuel your adventure. Next, stop in at the Explore Victoria Visitor Center for maps and a background introduction to all that the city has to offer. Then head off to one or more of the city’s unique museums. Art lovers will enjoy the Nave Museum of Classic & Modern Art or the Five Points Museum of Contemporary Art. History lovers will find interesting displays at the Museum of the Coastal Bend. If you have kids in your group, be sure to visit the Children’s Discovery Museum for fun interactive exhibits.
Lunch: Take a lunch break at Fossati’s Deli, the oldest deli in Texas. Other good options include Huvar’s Artisan Market for burgers, salads, sandwiches and more or Rosebud Fountain and Grill, a retro-style joint with old-school record players and casual food.
Afternoon: Check out the city’s vintage buildings by taking the Old Victoria Driving Tour, a self-guided tour of about 80 properties in Victoria’s historic district. You’ll see a variety of both private and public buildings, some of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After you’ve completed the tour, stretch your legs with a walk through Riverside Park or cool off at the Lone Tree Creek splashpad before going out to dinner.
Dinner: Cap off your day with a dinner at one of the city’s many excellent restaurants. Try the Pumphouse Riverside Restaurant & Bar, which has back deck overlooking the Guadalupe River. The Sendera, on the 12th floor of One O’Connor Plaza, has great views of the city. Other good options for adults include Greek Brothers oyster bar and grill or the Moonshine Drinkery to enjoy beverages and live music.
